Keeping a Schedule while Working At Home

Published by evbaw2 at 1:43 pm under Tips for Working At Home Edit This

It is very important to keep a schedule while working at home. It is easier to get distracted when you are in a home office setting vs an outside office job.  Here are some tips to help you out.

1.) Get a desk calendar.  These calendars are big and take up the majority of your desk.  Plan a week at a time. Only plan one week ahead.  This is to allow flexibility for things that can come up suddenly with family, etc.  Here are a few days in the freelance writers world planned out.  Feel free to use this as your own.

Mondays - Get up at 7ish take shower, make phone calls and check email

                    a) Research and get ideas for writing articles.  8:00am - 10am

                    b) Take a breakfast break 10:00-10:30

                    c) 11:00 - 12:00 Post on Today.com

                    d) 12:00 - 1:00 Write articles for Ehow.com

                    e) 1:00 - 2:00 Post Articles on Ehow.com

                    f) 2:00 Lunch Break

                    h)  2:30 -4:30 Rewrite those same articles for other writing sites

Tuesdays - Get up at 7 and eat breakfast, take shower etc.

                    a) 8:00 - 10:00 am-Take rewritten articles from Monday’s #7 and post on other writing sites.

                    b) 10:00 - 10:30 - Post on your own Blog.

                    c) 10:30 - 11:00 - Post on Today.com

                    d) 11:00 - 11:30 Post on Twitter

                    e) 11:30 - 12:00 Check Social Marketing sites such as Facebook, Myspace, etc.  Comment on other peoples

                        Comments.

                   f) Lunch 12:00 - 1:00

                   g) 1:00 - 2:00 Research keywords on articles that are not making as much money.

                   h) 2:00 - 3:00 Tweak keywords on articles  that I researched.

2.) Stick to and follow your schedule.  This is the most important thing you must do.  If you set up a schedule, follow it.  Nothing will happen unless you make it happen.   You will be more productive when you are following a set schedule for yourself.  It is easy to get distracted and this helps keep you on the task at hand.

Thanks for stopping by!  Smile
